When 910 episodes are not enough

2CH listeners frantic as station airs final ep of Castlereagh Line. The final episode of the classic radio serial ‘The Castlereagh Line’ has aired on Bob Rogers morning show on 2CH 1170 creating enormous demand from listeners anxious to get hold of their own personal copies of the 910 episode show.

Bruce Ferrier, (below left) head of Grace Gibson Productions who produced the serial told radioinfo that the company had just recently set up an online store to retail copies of Castlereagh Line and other Gibson serials to personal buyers only (these are for private ownership only and strictly NOT for broadcast by commercial, community or internet radio, etc) in response to ongoing calls from calls from listeners who love such shows.

“Because you have to create your own picture of what the various characters look like –the sexy vamp, the ruthless entrepreneur, the scheming crook – people get more out of radio serials than they do from television soaps,” Ferrier said. “It’s classic ‘theatre of the mind’ stuff.”

bruceferrier_240Telephones at Grace Gibson went into meltdown the moment Bob Rogers mentioned the first two volumes were available to buy. “If anyone ever wanted proof of what a powerful medium radio is, this is it: the response has been incredible,” he concluded.

In case people missed the conclusion, Bob Rogers will be replaying the final episode of The Castlereagh Line in his show at 10.40 this Friday morning.

Castlereagh’s amazing popularity means that 2CH 1170 will be back with another serial in the Bob Rogers Show in 2013.
