Whoops! Canberra buses announce a new breakfast radio team on Hit 104.7

This week Neil ‘Wilko’ Wilkock, one half of the Canberra Hit 104.7 breakfast show alongside Courtney ‘Courts’ Kneen was in the chemist when he started to receive messages at a ‘holy heck this must be an emergency’ rate. As it turns out buses were being driven around the Territory for their show, only with the wrong faces on it, Rod and Gabi’s, that is Rod Cuddihy and Gabi Elgood (pictured) the co-hosts of Hit stablemate Mix 106.3‘s drive program CBR Wrapped.

Now as radio is still largely not a visual medium it was seen initially as a humorous accidental addition to a conspiracy theory about Wilko and Courts’ future, because the pair this year haven’t resumed their podcast and both were off sick for a little while. There was also the debacle at the end of 2023 where Wilko and Courts’ predecessors Ned and Josh finished up on air on a Friday only to be told not to return on the Monday. So anything was possible. You can listen to the whole story below.

As it turns out Wilko and Courts have resigned and did so last year! They weren’t told a leaving date by management, but now know it’s this Friday February 7. Rod and Gabi take over on Hit Breakfast from Monday February 24. Which leaves a Mix Drive vacancy that is yet to be filled and this cryptic response from the pair, who did that gig before Rod and Gabi:

“We’ve loved working together again and don’t plan to stop that! Instead it’ll just come with a later starting time.”
