In a wonderful distraction from survey day, B105‘s breakfast team Stav, Abby & Matt are winding back the clock to reflect on their collective 50 plus years with the station by playing The Hits That Made B105 Famous and taking workday requests.
From 6am tomorrow, Thursday April 23, the trio will commence celebrations then, right across the workday, take 90’s and noughties requests of all the hits that made the station a fan favourite in Brisbane.
Artists will include Madonna, Veronicas, Kylie Minogue, Powderfinger, INXS, Good Charlotte, Pink, Savage Garden, 3 Doors Down, Natasha Bedingfield, TLC and is only limited by listener’s imaginations and memories of the time.
Classic Natasha Bedingfield memories……
Abby Coleman said:
“Stav, Matt and I have laughed, cried and had the most brilliant experiences together for the last ten years on B105. So it’s fair to say this station means a lot to us. We also know that B105 means a lot to Brisbane as well – from the wild parties we have thrown that management have shut down, to the children we have helped through the B105 Christmas Appeals, to the pop-up shows and all the other outrageous ideas in between. B105 has played such a big part of people’s lives, and that’s something worth celebrating.”
Stav Davidson added:
“B105 has been a part of my life for over 20 years, so I remember playing some of these songs when they first were released. I was so excited, I was going to wear my matching Fubu tracksuit, but management said no. It seems some things haven’t changed.”
And Ed Kirkwood, B105 Content Director said:
“B105 represents radio at its absolute best. B105 has been there for its listeners at their highest peaks and it’s been there to support them through their lowest troughs. It’s genuinely changed peoples’ lives, introduced them to their husband or wife, or simply been there to hear a listener’s story that will make someone else cry with laughter. It’s a cultural icon of Brisbane, and I’m proud to play a role in recognising its heritage.”
Bring it on.
