WS-FM Rockier from Today

Sydney’s WSFM will have a stronger, rockier sound from today, after overhauling its music playlist, as part of a long running ‘Tune Up’ promotion.

Much of the ’60s music has been relegated to weekends, making way for more classic rock from the ’70s and ’80s. There will also be a stronger emphasis on Australian rock.

WS-FM had an overwhelming response to its tune up, in which listeners ‘played doctor’ and some won cash for ideas.

Celebrating its 25th year on air, WSFM Program Director, Graeme Edwards, says the four week promotion was about getting the station’s loyal listeners more directly involved.

“We’ve certainly achieved that with cartons of letters, thousands of interactive returns and heaps of comments/suggestions on the regular feedback page on our website.

“Traditionally, WSFM listeners have always been very loyal and passionate. We want them to be more motivated and to take a greater, direct interest in their radio station.”
