You've missed the biggie...the grandfather of shithouse songs....Evie Parts 1, 2 & 3....that's 11 minutes of valuable throne time!!! You could visit the crapper, make a sandwich and a cuppa and be back to hear Stevies dulcent tone belting out an Australian Classic!!! An announcer couldn't ask for more!!!
You're spot on swr80, Evie and all of her parts was a real favourite, along with November Rain by Guns n Roses, CCR's Heard it through the Grapevine and Do You Feel Like I Do from Frampton Comes Alive. I even found a Harry Chapin track called There Was Only One Choice which gave me 14+ minutes to visit the Chinese takeaway and consume my Sweet n Sour Pork before he was done singing about the dance band on the Titanic. Glad it didn't backtrack on me!
And do you remember there was a box of Aussie songs on the other side of the panel during APRA week where you could reach over and make sure you played enough Auusie music to keep everyone happy.
The good old days of the Radio station having a music library person. They were the ones we paid so we could play our favourite music in our shift.
That was in "record" single days.... then do you remember when music went to CARTS... boy they were fun, we all had our turn of being CART boy. Todays announcers have no fun at all with getting a fade right between 2 songs do they.

Thanks for reminding me about the Aussie music selection that was kept on hand to boost percentages, Richard. Forgot about that. Yes I also remember being labelled a CART TART, but thankfully that era was quickly phased out by the CD.
