You’ve got Mail – 14 000 of them!

Gold 104.3 FM breakfast co-host, Peter Stubbs, is coming to terms with a rather significant, non-computer friendly embarrassment.

It has been revealed that Peter, who is the brother of 774 ABC breakfast presenter, Richard Stubbs, has an inbox – complete with unread 14 000 emails, accumulated over the past five years!

As is the case these days with most radio programs, Stubbs (Peter) and co-host, Diane Dunleavy – better known as Grubby & Dee Dee – invite listeners to send them emails via a dedicated address on the Gold website.

The only trouble is that Grubby did not know there were 14 000 emails, awaiting his personal attention, which means not one listener who has written to him in all that time has received a reply!

Several weeks ago, Dunleavy was mystified when Richard wrote to his brother and even he did not get a reply. So, she decided to investigate by calling in Gold’s Chief Engineer, Bill Cacalis, who has uncovered a non-computer friendly staff member.

Grubby has told The Age’s Diary he is amazed to find out he has an email address:

“I can’t work out why everyone in the building is laughing at me and treating me with contempt. Why can’t people get off their arses and come and tell me what they want, instead of emailing me?”

In the meantime, the task of wading through the 14 000 emails has been left with an unfortunate trainee, who will eventually reply to listeners. Grubby’s email has been diverted to Dee Dee, who will handle his traffic.
