Harmer Confirms DMG Mornings

Former 2Day FM breakfast queen, Wendy Harmer, has confirmed she will host mornings on DMG Radio Australia’s soon to be launched Sydney station, 95.3 FM.

Harmer will end a two year hiatus from radio to begin what she describes as a ‘dream job’ with a “start up station,” which is expected to be on air in the first week of August.

Harmer is one of Australia’s highest profile radio announcers, an author of contemporary and children’s literature, as well as a well-respected entertainer and comedian. Her work at 2-DayFM and the ABC’s The Big Gig are well remembered by audiences.

dmg Executive Producer Paul Clarke says:
“Wendy has enormous empathy for listeners – she is a terrific broadcaster who can connect with people like very few others.”

She will be produced by Helen Thomas, who was executive producer of Radio National breakfast for seven years, and has recently been a senior producer on Radio National’s current affairs program Background Briefing.

Harmer joins an on-air team for dmg’s new brand, which includes Angela Catterns, Tony Squires and Rebecca Wilson.

She will go head to head with 2UE’s John Laws, 2GB’s top rating Ray Hadley, 702 ABC’s Sally Loane, Mix 106.5’s Bogart Torelli and 101.7 WSFM’s Ron E Sparx.

Harmer has told The Daily Telegraph’s Sydney Confidential that she had been offered numerous jobs since leaving 2Day FM.

“If I hadn’t met this bunch of people at DMG, then I would have stayed at home, quite frankly.

“It’s an extraordinary opportunity. It’s exciting to have a forum to offer what I have to offer in this new job.”
