Darwin broadcaster Julia Christensen has announced her retirement after almost 30 years on ABC Local Radio Northern Territory airwaves. “There just comes a time,” Ms Christensen said on 105.7 ABC Darwin’s Breakfast show. Ms Christensen worked as a volunteer presenter at the university radio station before giving birth to her son in 1985. After her son turned one she gained a part-time backfill role at the ABC in Darwin, eventually working herself up to a full-time presenter position.
Manager, Metropolitan Local Radio, Jeremy Millar said: “Julia is one of our most valued and experienced presenters. Highly regarded as a local news breaker, her record of holding politicians to account and her ability to connect with listeners on the stories that matter to them, demonstrates her great skill as an interviewer and storyteller.”
