South Australians can now get a weekly audio dose of cabaret star, Matt Gilbertson, on The Post’s newly launched podcast, Hot Topics.

The Post is a project from Solstice Media in partnership with the Government of South Australia which aims to inform young South Australians about the policies and issues affecting their lives.

Hot Topics, co-hosted by The Post editor Anna Kantilaftas and producer Tim Whiffen, unpack news headlines in a casual but informative and often irreverent way.

Gilbertson rose to international fame when his character Hans, a fabulous, glittery and entertaining German cabaret star, competed in America’s Got Talent. He regularly appears on morning TV program Sunrise, at the Adelaide Fringe and Adelaide Cabaret Festival and in June was awarded the Adelaide Cabaret Festival 2023 Icon Award, for his contribution to the arts industry.

He said:

 “Alongside my performance work, I’ve also been a journalist for 13 years. While juggling my two roles I always enjoyed the way that being across day-to-day news fed into the comedy side of my live shows. This podcast is almost a good marriage of the two. It’s a way of making the news topics that young people should be aware of a little more accessible and engaging.”

The Post and Hot Topics will discuss changes and policies affecting healthcare, infrastructure, community, events, environment, education, industry, and lifestyle. You can find Hot Topics on Spotify and The Post SA via social channels.
