RTRFM launches Nyoongar language podcast

Boorloo (Nyoongar name for Perth) community radio station RTRFM have marked the start of National Reconciliation Week 2025 with Kalyakoorl Waangkaniny, a new podcast exploring the foundations of Nyoongar language through bite-sized language lessons.

Hosts Kelsi Forrest andDylan Collard (pictured above) take you through greetings, pronouns, family, animals and much more each episode to connect you with Nyoongar boodjar.

Kalyakoorl Waangkaniny means speaking forever and that’s what they hope to do with the Nyoongar language, which stands as a testament to First Nations resilience and strength despite colonisation.

The first episode Kaya, kaya, kaya is out now and an introduction to greeting people in Nyoongar.
