Apple Music and Spotify introduce new features to encourage Australians to explore music via their platforms

10 August 2023 In a week where Senator David Pocock has sought to introduce a bill seeking to remove 1% cap on broadcast sound recordings, with an immediate frustrated response from the CRA and musicians, both Spotify and Apple Music have also released new functions to try and draw more of us away from traditional radio.

Will Spotify HiFi happen, and do we care?

22 June 2023 In February 2021 Spotify announced that Spotify HiFi was on its way to premium subscribers. May that year Apple Music and Amazon gazumped Spotify by both offering high res, lossless audio music tracks for no extra change. I will note that both also increased their standard monthly subscription costs by $1 in the US and £1 in the UK per month late last year. All the while Spotify have kept the blurb about HiFi coming on their website and chosen not to talk about it, if asked.
