I've sometimes wondered about whether 3AW and 2GB should seek to convert to FM. It's not 1984 anymore when FM was only Rock n Roll.
DAB+ is best suited to fixed point to point reception in the home. Mobile, portable DAB+ reception doesn't work very well, and listening to AM radio in Melbourne in the car is just awful. Too noisy. Too many tram lines overhead. FM in the car works quite a lot better than AM and DAB+.
