"Radio’s Competitors: What does it mean to radio when our streaming competitors can replicate everything a radio station can offer with at least an equal degree of personality, content and localism?"
Answer it will revert to the mean with the same bland presentation.
It is the crutch to not use the imagination and creativity to synthesise new programming innovations and sponteity.
I doubt you could ever get a computer-generated Doug Mulray (RIP) who could generate content which was based on a team of talented writers and present comedy segments.
Similarly I doubt you could ever get a computer-generated Alan Jones who challenges the politicians and industry heads.
AI could be great for standard announcing and linking of songs and live reads with the occasional quips such as music stations with announcers in the background.
Furthermore, the bot-generated presenter must not make remarks which may be offensive and or discriminatory.
It may make management be accountable to ACMA and anti-discrimination tribunals. The licence may be at peril.
Nevertheless, AI will not be a subsitute for real-time, creative, innovative, reaction to situations, news and intelligent editorialising.
Thank you
