Perth’s 96FM have been celebrating Dean ‘Clairsy’ Clairs who is departing breakfast radio after more than 40 years in the industry. On his final morning on air with co-host Lisa Shaw, they announced that come Monday former 96FM Afternoons host Russell Clarke will return for a new Lisa and Russell breakfast show.
All the regular breakfast show favourites segments and guests will continue including sports guru Adrian “Barra” Barich (see above) who is increasing his on-air presence and joining the team every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, as well as West Coast Eagle Elliot Yeo and Fremantle Docker Hayden Young to cover all WA AFL alliances.
Russell’s not far off Clairsy’s radio career with more than three decades in the industry, two of them as Content and Music Director at Mix 94.5 and other WA stations including The Eagle, 6MM West Coast Radio, 6IX and 6PR. He had only departed 96FM in March to make way for Craig ‘Huggy’ Huggins. Hoping he made the most of his rest break!
Russell said:
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be back at 96FM and teaming up with Lisa for Breakfast. Perth audiences have always been so loyal, and I can’t wait to start the day with them – playing great songs, having a laugh and keeping them informed.”
Lisa added:
“We go way back, so we already have plenty of dirt on each other. Russell’s a bit of a germophobe so after years of the studio smelling like Clairsy’s toast, I will have to get used to it smelling like Glen 20 instead!”
Lisa & Russell will commence Monday August 18 from 6.00am weekdays on 96FM.
