No rest for Brad Geier and Tony Jordon as they bring local radio to Rushworth

After 40 years in community radio, 35 of them at Radio KLFM, in March 2024 Brad Geier left the station he co-founded and retired to the small township of Rushworth in Victoria.

But, you never really leave radio, do you?

Brad saw that Rushworth didn’t have a local station and was well aware of how small towns with farming communities can feel isolated and disconnected. So he set out to build one himself.

The result is 3RW which launches with full-time programming next Monday September 1st.  3RW can be heard on 87.6 FM in Rushworth and on line via the website 3rw.com.au or the TuneIn App.

Critical to this start up was Brad’s friend Tony Jordon (the pair are pictured main – Tony left, Brad right) who alongside skills as a pianist, singer/songwriter and lyricist, also worked at KLFM as Production Manager and Weekday Drive Host. He too had moved to the Rushworth area and between them the idea came to life after several happy coincidences saw them being in the right place at the right time to harness local support and find the right studio space at a former council depot.

Brad said:

“It’s radio as it used to be. A personal one on one medium that directly connects to it’s listeners.”

3RW will help residents feel connected, less isolated and less alone by providing vital information including support services, community group information, events, gatherings and current emergency information, without the need for a smart phone, computer or internet connection.
