ARN DAB+ stations flourish in Sydney, Nova Fresh Country struggles in Brisbane – GfK Radio 360 Survey 6

DAB+ listening in GfK Radio 360 Survey 6 showed that ARN stations are well listened to in Sydney and Melbourne while some of Nova’s new offerings are still finding their feet. Nova’s smooth stations in Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth are still the favourites in those cities.

 Melbourne

  • Coles Radio and ARN’s Gold 80s the most popular.
  • Not the city for smooth DAB+ with smooth relax seeing a steep drop off.
  • SEN stations and ABC Sport not benefitting from football seasons.

Sydney

  • CADA still No 1 with other ARN stations KIIS Australia and KIIS 90s also with more than 100K cume audience.
  • Significant drop to audience listening to AI voice Thy on CADA
  • Smooth relax audience increases, opposite to Melbourne.

Brisbane

  • Smooth FM No 1, impressive gains too for Double J
  • Nova Fresh Country still not finding an audience in a market with three other country DAB+ stations
  • Debuts for SEN Fanatic and SEN Sydney with the former picking up some listens

Adelaide

  • Smooth FM and DANCE HITS joint No 1 in the city
  • Nova Jamz finding an audience with Nova All Stars to debut in Adelaide only next survey.
  • Coles Radio and RnB Fridays Radio increase listenership

Perth

  • Smooth FM clear No 1, 96FM 80s gaining ground
  • Capital Radio Network‘s 60s and 70s stations both double their audiences
  • ABC Sport gains listeners where commercial radio in Perth hasn’t seen any real benefit from AFL season end.
