Survey 1: Big Sea on the Gold Coast

First 2013 survey for the Gold Coast.

Sea FM has snatched the number one position in the first Gold Coast survey for this year. Sea FM jumped 3.7 share points to 16.3% overall.

Gold FM rose slightly, up 0.2 to 15.1%, retaining its second place position.

Hot Tomato slipped, dropping into third position with a fall of 0.7 share points taking it to 14.0%.

Triple j was placed fourth, steady at 8.9% and local ABC station ABC91.7 was fifth, gaining 1.1 share points to rise to 5.9%.

The survey was conducted between Sun Jan 27 ‐ Sat Feb 16, Sun Feb 24 ‐ Sat Mar 23 and Sun Mar 31 ‐ Sat Apr 6, 2013.

Sea FM’s breakfast team Galey Matt and Charlie rose 3.8 share points to claim number one breakfast position. ABC91.7 and triple j also rose in the breakfast timeslot, while other stations fell.  Gold FM won mornings, Sea FM won the other timeslots, including weekends.

Sea FM won the 10-17 demographic ahead of Hot Tomato. Sea FM also won the 18-39 age groups. Hot Tomato won 40-54s, Gold FM won 55-64s and Brisbane ABC station ABC612 won the over 65s.

Sea FM increased its average audience by over 30% this survey. It has a cumulative listenership  of 169,800 people. Gold FM has 156,500 weekly listeners (cume), Hot Tomato has 148,600 and ABC917 has 63,700 cumulative weekly listeners.

Brisbane stations are heard on the Gold Coast and are also measured in this survey. Notable movements were 4BC down 0.6 and ABC612 down 0.6. There was little movement in the other non-local stations.
