98five’s Brekky hosts Kirste and Morro breathed in the sea breeze this morning as they took the show to Scarborough Primary School for Perth’s first Free Coffee Friday of 2016.
 
Students and teachers were treated to free coffee and donuts while 98five’s roving reporter and Drive show host Christine tried her hand in a game of basketball with the kids. 
 
The show caught up with principal Jason Crofts, chaplain Will Veldman, and surfing program co-ordinator Mark Carlton – who gave an insight into the school’s unique early morning extra-curricular activity that takes advantage of the school’s beachside location.
 
Kirste and Morro discussed on-air ‘what’s the most unique extra-curricular activity your school was/is involved in’ after discovering Scarborough Primary School students were able to surf before classes on a Friday.
 
Listeners said they had done everything from windsurfing, golf and ice skating to responsible alcohol training and ten pin bowling.
 
As well as surfing at Scarborough Primary School, Mr Crofts sat down with the Brekky duo to talk about the school’s other programs such as their mentoring program with a local church, which supplies one-to-one sessions with students.
 
“Scarborough is a really family-orientated school, so we really celebrate all of our families as being part of our community,” Mr Crofts said.
 
“Events like today (98five’s visit), the twilight markets last year – we try and get families down to our school as often as possible.”
