Sarah Ferguson to join ABC's Washington Bureau

Award-winning journalist Sarah Ferguson will be deployed to Washington DC to take up a special in-depth reporting role for ABC NEWS.


"The drama of the US story is compelling," said Ferguson. "It's the other side of the coin in the great superpower stand-off. And I'll be reporting in the aftermath of an era-defining election."


Tribute to the voices of the 0745 ABC News bulletin

ABC Local Radio's new bulletin schedule came into operation this week, dumping the 0745 News due to budget cuts.

While there was little mention of the change on-air on Monday, the very last 0745 bulletin aired on Sunday morning during Macca's Australia All Over program, ending with a tribute to some of the voices of that bulletin heard by listeners during the past 80 years.

Stan Grant joins ABC News as International Affairs Analyst

Stan Grant has joined ABC News in a new multiplatform role.

Grant will provide stories and analysis for ABC Online, 7.30, Four Corners, audio current affairs and TV news. This will include contributing to a new regular China segment on The World each Thursday night, produced by the News Channel and the Asia Pacific Newsroom team.

ABC 0745 News Bulletin quietly disappears

The ABC’s quarter to eight news disappeared quietly this morning.

The final weekday 0745 bulletin went to air on local radio stations last Friday, without breakfast presenters flagging it would be the last bulletin, however, we have been corrected by one of our readers, who points out that there was mention of the format change at the end of Friday's 0745 bulletin.

After 80 years in its timeslot, the quarter to eight news on ABC metro and regional stations will be axed, as part of the budget cuts announced today by Managing Director David Anderson.

Trioli to replace Faine on ABC Radio Melbourne

The co-host of ABC NEWS Breakfast, Virginia Trioli, will take over from Jon Faine next year as presenter of the Mornings program on ABC Radio Melbourne.
Faine, who has been presenting his show for 23 years, announced in January that this would be his last year on air.
Trioli is well-known to ABC audiences having co-presented ABC NEWS Breakfast since 2008 as well as being a regular stand-in host on Q&A.
