There is a struggle for world domination by podcast platforms, but it may turn out that one single dominant podcast platform may never emerge.

A range of researchers at the recent Podcast Day Online event, held by Radiodays Europe, gave snapshots of the major platforms in various countries.

Lory Martinez, Founder, Studio Ochenta looked at how indie podcast producers can access a global audience for their product.
 
For most podcasters the difficulty is how to access global audiences without necessarily translating. 

The panel of Dechlan Moore, (Wondery), Maria Williams (Bauer Media) and Jakob Munck, (Munck Studios) looked at the globalisation of their product at PodcastDay Online.
 
Dechlan says the success of shows like Doctor Death and Business Wars outside of the US in the English speaking markets of Australia, the UK and Canada prompted Wondery to explore other markets and to translate into German, French, Portuguese and Spanish, and include a local monetisation partner in each market.

RadioDays PodcastDay online was held in Europe overnight, and Tim Hinman from Third Ear Podcast talked to Munck Studio’s Karen Albertsen about stories with strong narrative and captivating sound.

His companies podcast, The Nobody Zone, has been translated into five languages.

With less than 2 weeks to go until the first online podcast day, the last group of speakers is being announced.

The most recent to join the speaker lineup is Josh Rivers, creator and host of Busy Being Black, a podcast exploring how we live in the fullness of queer Black lives.
