More than 1,500 people have gathered at a concert in Brisbane to farewell popular ABC radio host Paul Bodington who committed suicide two weeks ago.

Friends and colleagues hosted the concert on the weekend featuring performers interviewed by Bodington during his career.

His sister, Michelle Bodington, told the crowd even she was surprised to realise the size of his following.

At the concert she said:

“His phone rang hot for 16 hours a day with people all claiming to be his best mate. I have never known anyone to have so many best mates.”
