2GB’s Managing Director Rob Loewenthal has hit back at ACMA saying the regulator has its own issues with accuracy.

Loewenthal has criticised ACMA’s announcement of the adverse findings against Alan Jones because the ACMA media release announcing its ruling did not mention 4 other cases where 2GB was found not to have breached the accuracy codes.

2GB’s reliance on newspaper sources is no longer good enough according to the ACMA decision, with Loewenthal saying this is a departure from ACMA precedents. “The finding on factual accuracy represent a departure from ACMA’s previous position that 2GB could assume that an article published in the mainstream media was accurate.”
