2SER launches new show about Sustainability

Everyone’s talking about sustainability. But what is it? How can we achieve it?

A new show on 2SER FM, called THINK: Sustainability, aims to answer those questions.

Sustainability isn’t just about the environment. It’s also about business, food, culture, lifestyle and many other aspects of today’s modern society.

The half hour program, to be heard Sunday mornings and repeated on Wednesday evenings, will cover issues of sustainability across all areas of life and will delve into how everyday problems are being solved creatively.

It will feature discoveries that are transforming our world and stories about solutions to global challenges. From waste to wealth, from grids to growth, from possible to practical…it is a show to get listeners thinking and inspired.

THINK: Sustainability is sponsored by University of Technology Sydney and produced by a team led by Jake Morcom and Ellen Leabeater with supervising producer Catherine Zengerer.

Zengerer was “blown away” by the number of stories around sustainability. “When we sat down with the team at UTS and they started showing us the ideas that came off the top of their head, the list was just amazing.

“THINK: Sustainability is about tapping into the rich vein of research at UTS and being able to bring that to the public in a way that’s informing and entertaining.”

“A lot of people think of the environment first when they hear the word ‘sustainability’, but it’s more than that. And because it goes across many areas, the story ideas are endless,” according to Morcom.

“We’ve all heard the horror stories; now is the time to offer practical solutions,” says 2SER Program Director Anthony Dockrill. “This program will do that.

“Our slogan is ‘stories, ideas, music’, so getting people to think is a big mission for a community radio station with an educational target audience. THINK: Sustainability fulfils our mission perfectly and it aligns with one of the university’s key priorities too.”

Think: Sustainability goes to air this Sunday 6th March in the temporary timeslot of 9.30am, then from April onwards can be heard in the permanent timeslot of 11.00am on 2SER 107.3 and www.2ser.com. Repeated Wednesdays at 6.30pm.
