Between Monday April 19 and Saturday April 24, Sydney community station 2SER is calling on listeners to pledge their financial support to the station, which claims a listening audience of over 250,000 Sydneysiders a week.
Listener contributions provide a vital source of income for 2SER and are priced at $55 a year for standard subscription, $33 concession & $220 for businesses.
2SER has been a part of Sydney’s cultural landscape for almost 25 years, broadcasting metro-wide and reaching as far as the Blue Mountains and Wollongong. When the station started it had the alternative format territory to itself, but these days it is competing with Fbi and an expended number of lower power community stations which run similar programs.
2SER is “independent non commercial radio with programming that reflects this, showcasing cutting-edge musical styles, contemporary arts and independent current affairs.”
The stations says: “Being independent & non-commercial means we need our listeners to help keep us on air by becoming financial supporters of the station. Unfortunately, only a very small proportion of our audience, less than 1 per cent in fact, are financial supporters. Hence the New Supporter Drive.”
