96.9 Star FM Christmas appeal wrapped up for another year

96.9 Star FM’s I Believe In Christmas toy drive has come to an end for 2012 with 1,073 toys donated, all going to the Salvation Army.

To make sure the 2012 festive season was a little brighter for everyone, the team at 96.9 Star FM Shepparton and the Salvation Army joined forces to run a massive 4 week toy drive for under privileged children in the Goulburn Valley

Joanne Barrett from the SFAR Program at Salvation Army Pathways says: “There’s been a realisation of how generous Shepparton and the surrounding community can be, and a real joy to experience it”

When Star FM opened its studio doors, the gifts came flooding in with amazing support from the community. Home Central, home to Pets Domain, Forty Winks, Fantastic Furniture, Plush and Godfreys, have been a massive supporter of this years toy drive, with each store being a drop off location.

Star FM Breakfast announcer Jordan Peters has told radioinfo: “I’ve been with Star FM for 3 years and I’ve never seen a response like this, we beat last years donations by almost double and managed to crack the 1000 toy mark, it’s been such a great effort from the GV”

Co-host Steph says, “it’s truly incredible how generous this community is considering how much they’ve been through in the last year, yet everyone stepped up and helped a fellow neighbour enjoy Christmas like everyone should.”
