Following a successful 2016 partnership, 96FM, Channel 7, The West Australian and the West Coast Eagles reunited this year for 96FM’s Million Dollar Kick – a multi-tiered five-month campaign across print, TV, radio and social streams.
The evening saw ex Eagles player Karl Langdon take to the field with 15 competition finalists for a tense elimination round, with Shannon George from Hilbert winning the opportunity to kick for a million dollars.
In front of over 35,000 fans and cheered on by 96FM breakfast hosts Carmen & Fitzi, Shannon lined up the golden kick. The crowd watched in awe as the ball sailed perfectly through the middle of the goal posts.
It didn’t quite score him the million as he hadn’t selected the envelope with the winning number, but Shannon still walked away with a brand new Toyota RZ worth $30,000 for his efforts. Shannon plans to give the car to his girlfriend who supported his special moment from the sidelines on the night.
ARN Commercial Director for Perth, Rick Dalton said: “We are proud to have joined our partners, Channel 7, The West Australian and the West Coast Eagles again in 2017 for 96FM’s Million Dollar Kick.
“Through our collaborative approach we once again gave one AFL fan the chance to win one million dollars, and our successful multi-media campaign is testament to the strength of each partner.
“We congratulate the lucky finalist on taking home a brand new car worth $30,000, and look forward to continuing the partnership in future years with an aim of giving away the million dollars.”
