98five’s new Brekky team

Who better to match up with 98five’s Brekky host and West Coast Eagles chaplain Paul “Morro” Morrison than a diehard Fremantle Dockers fan.

Mother-of-three and professional singer Kirste Oats will join Morro, 6am weekdays, from Tuesday 2 June.

Kirste was discovered through the Western Australian station’s ‘Are you the one?’ search that was launched between Easter and Anzac Day and received more than 140 phone auditions.

98five general manager Bevan Jones said auditions were extremely varied.

“There were songs, poems, many accents, impersonations of current staff members, jokes, oversharing and also great potential from people with no radio background.”

He said the Station decided to open its doors to candidates with radio and non-radio experience alike in order to unearth ‘the one’ who would complement Morro’s laid-back country style, get pumped when the pre-dawn alarm sounds and have a heart for 98five’s faith and family values.

“We had an incredibly talented final pool of contestants but Kirste’s energy, creativity, faith journey and experience as a mother made her the clear choice to join the 98five family.”
