ABC Classic 100: Greatest of all Time voting closes May 28

Voting closes this Thursday May 28, at 8pm, for ABC Classic 100’s Greatest of All Time. Show Timothée Chalamet that lots of us care about opera, ballet and classical music.

You can head to the ABC Classic website to vote. If you need a little inspiration, the Classic 100 archives are here.

I imagine lots of you who read Radioinfo got your all time most listened to Spotify songs as part of its 20th anniversary celebrations. Did any of you have a classical piece or two in your top 10?

I did.

Mine was a licorice all sort selection of genres showing a life well lived. Country was No 1 (Waylon Jennings – I adore him, he was in there twice), some folk pop (Gordon Lightfoot and The Lumineers, the latter were also the first artist I ever listened to) and AC/DC‘s Thunderstruck. At No 4 was Clair De Lune by Claude Debussy which I can genuinely now say I have listened to hundreds of times and am listening to again as I write this.

Get your votes in then. It is a similar system to the Hottest 100 where you can find the songs alphabetically and by searching, and listen back to your favourites at the same time. There is also a cool prize up for grabs just by voting.

Mine below:

Australia’s favourite pieces will be revealed across Saturday 6 June and Sunday 7 June, from 10am-6pm.

There is also the fourth ABC Classic 100 in Concert, premiering on ABC TV and ABC iview on Saturday 27 June at 7:30pm. Hosted by Megan Burslem and Jeremy Fernandez, the concert by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra with Principal Guest Conductor Benjamin Northey will be a spectacular celebration of Australia’s Greatest of All Time, as voted by ABC Classic listeners.
