To mark NewsRadio’s 8th anniversary (Thursday 15 August) and the ABC’s 70th year as a corporation, the ABC’s youngest radio network gave listeners the chance to win a copy of ‘The Annual Reports’ double CD containing tracks of news events from 1932-2002. Listeners had to say, in 25 words or less, their most memorable moment listening to ABC NewsRadio.
One of the key personnel at NewsRadio is Russell Powell, who was the first announcer to be heard after the station was officially opened eight years ago. Powell has been the voice of major newscasts on leading Australian News stations, as well as playing a senior editorial role in three stations, including stints as News Editor with 2UE and News Director 2GB/Macquarie Network. He has also had extensive current affairs experience, presenting air-shifts for 2GB – including Breakfast and drivetime. He is currently Morning Presenter (6am to 10am Eastern time).
