ABC Radio Brisbane go old school seeking doilies and hand written letters

ABC Radio Brisbane’s Craig Zonca and Loretta Ryan are collecting doilies towards a large assembly that will later be displayed at the Ekka. The doilies can be vintage, or newly made, but they must come with a handwritten note telling the story behind it, be it the family history or the fibres and construction methods.

It can be any size or shape doily, ironed and without holes or loose threads. If an heirloom piece, which has been passed down through the generations, marks and stains are fine as they are part of it’s history. Any details of the maker and era can be included in your handwritten story which will be also used as part of the project.

The final date for doily entries is Friday May 31 at 5pm. Submission forms and details are here.

After the doilies are received Queensland Spinners, Weavers and Fibre Artists will assemble the doilies together to be displayed at Brisbane’s annual show the Ekka. You can follow along the progress of the piece on ABC Brisbane’s social pages.

The hand written letter must accompany your doily submission and can be posted to:

Or you can even pop in an drop it off in person.
