The ABC has begun to transmit its first digital TV channel – ABC Kids. Broadcasts began on May 9 and can be seen between 10am and 3pm if you have a digital TV or receiver box. The channel gives the ABC an extra outlet, additional to the main ABC channel. While commercial TV broadcasters are not allowed to offer new channels as part of digital broadcasting, the public broadcasters are allowed to do so. The radio industry has not moved any closer to digital radio at this stage.
