AFL star Harry McKay talks mental health with Nova’s Jase & Lauren

Carlton AFL player Harry McKay has opened up on Nova 100’s Jase & Lauren about his recent mental health break, discussing his emotional journey away from the game, the support he received from his team, and his powerful comeback match against Geelong.

Harry shared insights into his personal struggles, the importance of prioritising mental health and the overwhelming support he experienced from Carlton fans during his return to the field, saying:

“I’m going really well. Obviously, a little bit of a different couple of months, but in a really good space now, and the love and support has been really profound. So really lucky to be in a good place and back playing footy. And obviously never ideal to go through, but really appreciative and grateful to be back in a nice place.”

“Sometimes there’s footy and sometimes there’s life, and I think through this all, prioritising your health and wellbeing kind of is the main thing.”

Jase & Lauren can be heard from 6am to 9am on Nova 100 in Melbourne. Listeners can stream the show live or catch up with the daily podcast by downloading the Nova Player.
