Alan Jones to raise drought awareness from Bourke and Dubbo

2GB and 4BC’s breakfast presenter Alan Jones will raise awareness of the crippling impact of drought on rural communities with a series of outside broadcasts in Bourke and Dubbo NSW over the next week.

Jones has long been campaigning for Australia’s federal and state politicians to provide greater support for rural Australians impacted by what has become the worst drought in living memory and says, “Canberra have announced drought packages which bear little relationship to the problems faced by farmers and small business in the bush,”

“Their voice isn’t being heard. We are going to the coal face to give them a voice. Canberra can only ignore that voice at significant political risk.”

Jones will begin the tour in Bourke hosting a Locals and Farmers Forum at The Port of Bourke on Sunday November 24, he will then broadcast his top rating breakfast program on Monday November 25 from the Bourke Bowling Club.

From there he will travel to Dubbo and host a second Locals and Farmers Forum in Dubbo at the Commercial Hotel on the evening of November 25.

From Tuesday November 26 to Thursday November 28 Jones will broadcast his 2GB and 4BC breakfast show live from Dubbo.

Each evening, Jones will be joined by Peta Credlin former Chief-of-Staff to Prime Minister Tony Abbott where they will host a one-hour Sky News program that will also highlight how the drought has ravaged local communities.

On the evening of Thursday November 28 Jones will host a charity fundraiser for the drought at Melo’s Italian Restaurant in Potts Point.

The drought tour is being supported by Clubs NSW, Vodafone, Breakout River Meats, Harvey Norman, The Commonwealth Bank, Network Building Supplies, Mining NSW, Uniden, East Coast Beverages.
