Amy Moon has been appointed the General Manager of Joy 94.9 after Conrad Browne announced he was stepping down from the role last month.
Amy is a leader in the community radio sector, having worked at the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia, and the Community Broadcasting Foundation. She also led revenue growth across several arts and community organisations, including 3MBS, Orchestra Victoria and Victorian Opera. As a passionate member of the LGBTIQ community, she is particularly well-placed to lead Joy into the future.
Outgoing General Manager, Conrad Browne, said, “I’m so pleased to hear that Amy will be the new General Manager. With her experience and knowledge of the sector she will be a fantastic asset to the station. She’s also a wonderful people-person, which will be of great value to this people powered organisation. I wish her all the best and I know with the support of the fantastic staff and amazing volunteers that JOY will thrive under her leadership and continue to be the loudest and proudest voice for our diverse community.”
Amy Moon said, “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to take on the position of General Manager at JOY and to share our pride with Melbourne and the world. Radio is a vital medium that connects people with their wider community and JOY has a truly unique place in the broader media landscape.
When I first came to Melbourne almost a decade ago, JOY was a place I immediately felt connected. I really value the way JOY embraces and fosters inclusion, especially for those who are looking for a place to belong and don’t feel they are adequately represented elsewhere in the media.”
Amy is relocating from Sydney to take up the role, which she’ll commence on 3 August 2015.
