Are you man enough to ride a girls’ bike?

At least 150 blokes proved they were. It was Nova 969 Girls Bike Convoy, in aid of Australia’s Redkite charity to raise much needed funds to support kids with cancer and their families.

Nova’s breakfast show with Merrick & Rosso & Kate Ritchie broadcast their morning show live from the car park of Le Montage Reception Centre in Leichhardt. Hundreds of fans and supporters joined them, including a team of listeners from United Resource Management who donated $10,000.

A convoy of tough men rode girls bikes along the 7km Bay Walk around Sydney’s Iron Cove. Bike police from Leichhardt escorted the convoy and eventually arrested Merrick Watts for “offensive behaviour”… again, all to aid the station’s charity efforts – and because the sight of him on a girls bike was offensive.

Merrick said: “I thought the convoy was going to look piss weak, but it ended up looking very impressive”.

Celebrities that joined the Nova 969 Girls Bike Convoy included:

• Tommy Williams (Great Outdoors/Gladiators)

• Les Hill, Callan Mulvey & Gyton Grantley (Underbelly)
• Lincoln Lewis & Todd Lasance (Home & Away)
