B105 street man gets Apple scoop

With all the hype surrounding the launch of iPhone 5, B105 was in the right place at the right time this morning to score a coup.

The station had a “seize the moment” moment as the new iPhones went on-sale.

One of the 300 people lining up at the Chermside Shopping Centre Apple store in Brisbane to buy the new phone was Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak.

The station couldn’t believe its luck that he was in Brisbane and that B105’s man on the street spotted him. He was in Australia for a lecture at Queensland University of Technology.

Allan (aka Ticketman) saw him and got him on air for a chat. Labby, Stav and Abby, back in the studio were apparently green with envy at Ticketman’s scoop.

Because of world time zone differences, Australia is usually one of the first countries in the world to begin such international launches.
