This was a big win for Mix 106.3 in Canberra’s GfK Radio Survey 3, 2024, one they might want to pin on the wall. They lead comfortably in every day part, except evenings but including weekends, and have a more than 30% audience share in the 10-17 and 55-64 age group which shows the breadth of the station’s appeal.
There were also positives for other stations. While Kristen and Nige on Mix breakfast increased their listenership the most (up 4.3 to 21.1 and back to where they were at the start of this year), the new this year pairing of Wilko and Courts, AmplifyCBR stablemates of Mix, have bedded in and increased their audience to 14.5, relegating Adam Shirley at ABC Canberra to third. 2CC‘s Stephen Cenatiempo also was up 2.0 to 5.2.
Hit and Mix are joint owned by ARN and SCA, with Hit leading in listening for 18-39s. The only demographic not owned by Hit or Mix is over 65s who prefer to listen to ABC Classic.
2CC and 2CA saw overall gains, the biggest for both in afternoons, but there was no catching Pat Griffin (pictured), Mix 106.3 afternoon announcer and music director. He was up the most of anyone across the day and weekend, up 6.8 to a 27.3 audience share. The Raiders on Mix on the weekends across the NRL season fared well too, Mix weekends were up 3.6 to 20.1.
Cumulative listening was up for all except ABC stations. Hoping to see DAB+ listening included in future surveys as Canberra has now a vastly expanded offering available, including Mix breakfast’s Nigel Johnson getting his own to curate, simply called Nige!
