Cactus wins its fourth AWGIE

Australia’s most awarded radio comedy program How Green was My Cactus has added yet another gong to its bulging collection by taking out the 2004 Australian Writers’ Guild AWGIE Award for Best Comedy Script at last week’s gala Awards Ceremony in Melbourne.

This is the 4th time How Green was My Cactus has taken out this prestigious award and is the highest accolade that a comedy writer can achieve in this category in Australia.

Head of Grace Gibson Productions Bruce Ferrier, who distributes the show for Triffique Productions, has told radioinfo:

“It shows the incredible strength of writing skill at Triffique in being able to maintain such creative brilliance year in and year out, and clearly marks Doug Edwards as Australia’s foremost comedy writer.

“The AWGIE is for Best Comedy Script across all media and that includes radio, TV and stage – the lot. This is the fourth time CACTUS has taken out this award. To win it once is something, but four times…”

Cactus has also won four ACRA/Rawards for Best Syndicated Program over the years. To listen to the winning entry click the link below (mp3 file, 2.5 Mb)
