Classic FM the quiet achiever, 104.7 still number one in second Canberra survey.
Canberra’s 104.7 continues to hold top position in Canberra in the latest Nielsen survey. Stablemate Mix 106.3 had the biggest fall this survey. Classic FM had the biggest rise and national ABC stations RN and NewsRadio also gained strongly.
104.7 slipped by 0.8 to 18.6%, with a strong increase in 10-17 listeners offsetting falls in other demographics. The station’s evening shift had the largest increase, with breakfast also increasing. Weekend shifts dropped most.
Second placed ABC666 slipped 0.7 share points to 14.9%, with gains on the 40-54 age group, but falls in most other demographics. The drive shift was slightly up, while all other shifts fell.
Third placed Mix 106.3 lost 2.7 share points to 12.3%, with a slight gain in 55-64s but losses in most other demographics. Breakfast, morning and afternoons all lost share.
Fourth placed triple J slipped slightly, down 0.3 to 10.9%.
ABC Classic FM moved to fifth place with a significant rise of 2.6 share points taking it to 10%, the highest station share anywhere in Australia. Gains came form the older demographics and breakfast, afternoons and weekends all had strong gains.
Radio National gained 1.3 to score 8.7%, 2CC was down 0.4 to 8.3%.
2CA lost 0.7 to 5.3% and NewsRadio gained 1.1 share points to move to 4.7%.
