Changes at 6PR next year: Jamie Burnett to present Drive

6PR breakfast host Steve Mills told listeners he intends to break the network’s embargo on air this morning, to be first to announce news of changes at Nine Radio’s Perth talk station next year.

radioinfo is listening… and has just heard that

Jamie Burnett will be the new presenter of Perth Live, the station’s drive show from 3-6 pm.

Burnett, who currently hosts Weekend Mornings on 6PR, is highly regarded across Western Australia for his incisive interviewing and ability to move between national issues and community stories. His extensive professional background includes over 16 years in broadcasting, complemented by communication and consulting roles within the private sector.

Shift times will change, with morning presenter Simon Beaumont’s shift cut back one hour, ending at noon. Tod Johnston will present midday to 3pm.

6PR Content Manager Brad Pottinger says the changes “complete 6PR’s new weekday line-up, and signal a refreshed live and local direction for the station in 2026.”

“Jamie Burnett is a respected voice across Perth and already a popular member of the 6PR family. His blend of journalistic rigour, passion for WA and ability to connect with this city makes him the perfect host for Perth Live,” says Pottinger.

For a kid who grew up in Perth and regional WA, hosting the 6PR drive shift is “a dream come true” for Burnett.

“Perth Live in 2026 will be a place where our great city comes together. We’ll dig into what matters, share stories and have a few laughs. I welcome healthy debate – so expect plenty of back and forth. Just don’t give me too much stick about being a West Coast supporter, it’s been a tough few years,” Burnett has told radioinfo.

6PR’s 2006 weekday line up is:

5am – 9am Breakfast with Millsy and Karl

9am – 12pm Perth Today with Simon Beaumont

12pm – 3pm Afternoons with Tod Johnston

3pm – 6pm Perth Live with Jamie Burnett

6pm – 8pm Wide World of Sports with Mark Readings

8pm – 9pm Money News with James Willis

9pm Australia Overnight with Tony McManus

The Perth market will be one to watch in 2026, with ABC Radio Perth recently poaching Oliver Peterson from 6PR.  Burnett used to work for the local ABC station, but jumped ship to 6PR and has been recently presenting weekends.

The new 6PR lineup also returns the station to the more traditional four shift weekday timeslots, that were scrapped during budget driven changes and set off a round of musical chairs in the Perth market.
