Classic FM interviews Mozart

It’s official – ABC Classic FM has a sense of humour. Today it was on show to celebrate Margaret Throsby’s 10th anniversary hosting Classic FM mornings.

Throsby interviewed ‘Mozart’ in a one hour feature – Mozart’s first interview since his death.

For a guy who has been dead for over 200 years, Mozart looked hale and hearthy when he was introduced to a crowd of Classic FM staff and media writers last night to preview the program.

ABC Chairman Donald McDonald introduced Margaret Throsby saying: “in the ten years she has been doing this program it has become so much a part of our lives.”

Throsby remembered her first few months doing the interview format hour, telling the audience that guests were reluctant to be on the show at first and that she and her producer Mark Hastings received many complaints initially about the format.

“But we know how to succeed in the ABC, keep doing what you’re doing and hope that nobody notices… The program is so successful now that it has enough pulling power to bring a classical composer back from the dead.”

When Guy Noble as ‘Mozart’ appeared he thanked “Emperor McDonald” for allowing him to enter “such a rich and well funded palace as the ABC for the interview.”

“Margaret is like a radio dentist,” said Mozart, “she extracts things from you and you feel no pain.”
