Community Station Great Lakes FM in Forster Tuncurry decided to really get into the thick of the action recently when station manager Andrew Farr climbed into a demolition derby car at the Nabiac Show and broadcast live behind the wheel.
Not satisfied with just entertaining spectators at the event, Andrew wanted to give listeners a first hand account of what it’s like to handle a demolition derby car whilst being rammed, smashed, pulverized and wrecked.
His helmet was fitted out with earphones and a microphone enabling him to do a live-to-air commentary from the drivers seat during the action.

The demolition derby was the highlight of a fundraising event that raised over $21,000 for the children’s ward at Manning Base Hospital in Taree.
