David Marr to fill the mighty boots of Phillip Adams on RN Late Night Live

David Marr will take over as host of ABC RN’s Late Night Live when Phillip Adams retires after 33 years in the role in June. Interestingly he and the ABC RN team have stated that Marr’s new role will only extend until the end of this year.

Marr is a Walkley Award winning journalist who has worked with The National Times, The Bulletin, Fairfax and The Guardian. For the ABC he has hosted Media Watch, presented arts programs and was an investigative journalist with Four Corners. As an author he has written biographies of Nobel winning Australian author Patrick White and former Chief Justice Sir Garfield Barwick with his most recent publication called Killing for Country: A Family Story.

Of the new role, Marr said:

“I’m honoured and terrified. It’s going to be a ball”.

RN Manager Dina Rosendorff said of both Marr and Adams:

“While we celebrate Phillip’s career it is also exciting to welcome David, who I’m sure will resonate with the most intellectual and loyal radio audience in the country, the Gladdies and Poddies.

David is the right combination of intellect, curiosity and, of course, a wicked sense of humour.”

Adams’ last broadcast will be on Thursday June 27. Marr commences on Monday July 15.
