Galey is a good Skipper

Sea FM’s Galey, Ross and Charli felt compelled to raise money for local Gold Coasters, the Bennett family

You’ll recall, the father, Kane Bennett was in a tragic accident just over a week ago where he was killed by a lightning strike in Worongary.

Kane’s final act was to ensure that he took the full force of the lightning storm so that his family was safe.

Sea FM Breakfast show’s Paul ‘Galey’ Gale found a novel way to raise money – skipping rope, like Rocky. At a dollar a skip, most thought there was no way he’d reach his target of $10,000.

Between 6:30 and 11:00am Galey skipped and skipped, then skipped some more to post a total of over 12,000 skips and over $12,000 currently pledged towards the cause.

Along with many others who stopped into Evandale Park to donate, Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate and Gold Coast Titan Player William Zillman also arrived to show their support and cheer on Galey.

Galey said, “We can’t image what Kane’s family are going through at the moment, and wanted to find a way to let them know we are all thinking about them. Thank you to everyone on the Gold and Tweed Coast for being so generous.”

It’s moments like this that makes you proud to be in radio.
