Gary Shannon joins the radio fanboy’s latest episode

Perth radio royalty, Gary Shannon from the PM FM Morning Crew is the latest guest on the Radio Fanboy Podcast with Lee Bevington.
 
Gary talks to Bevo about how he got started in radio back in late 1972 as cart boy at 6KY, and getting to 6PM in 1977 to host nights, staying for 25 years.
 
It was here, while doing breakfast with the Morning Crew, and he says, “ I believe we were the first to get the Crew thing happening…we invented the Morning Crew name …and bringing people into the studio in 1990, a bunch of three people onair together hadn’t been heard of before… and we certainly started a trend because now every bugger’s doing it”
  
Gary says, “We were the first to do Crazy Calls, they call them Gotcha Calls now, but they’re banned because of unfortunate situation that came out of Sydney and affected London so badly…”
 
The Morning Crew also raised over $2 million for Canteen to support young people with cancer.
