The Gold Coast will play host to hundreds of community radio broadcasters for the next few days as broadcasters converge on the iconic Queensland holiday destination to discuss future trends on radio, important issues for the community sector, funding, regulation and more.
Recent political moves around media reform have leveraged some additional government funding for the sector for specific projects, which will be outlined at the conference, beginning tomorrow morning.
A morning debate will address the question Is Community Radio About the Listener or About the Person On Air?
Smartphone journalism, digital innovation, the importance of radio in ‘media dark’ countries and connecting with you community, are all topics on the agenda for the first day.
The conference is being held at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 9am Friday and continues through the weekend.
The event began tonight with a welcome drinks function at the Sofitel Hotel Gold Coast.
