Graham Webb celebrates 60 years of broadcasting

Today broadcaster Graham ‘Webby’ Webb is celebrating 60 years on air.

The former telegram boy got his break playing harmonica on Terry Dear’s “Australia’s Amateur Hour” on 2UW on this day in 1954 and was immediately struck by the radio bug. His next appearance was on 2UE’s Rumpus Room compered by Howard Craven.

Webby now lives on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast where he set up community radio station Sunshine FM which caters for the over 50’s on the Coast. Despite failing eyesight he still records commercials and produces his Webby’s Golden Years program which airs on community stations around the country.
