Grill Team combines two Aussie icons to come up with an Arse Pie

In an effort to ratchet up their blokey image even further – in case anyone was in doubt – Sydney’s Triple M Grill team have come up with an invention that looks to be a winner. They’ve combined two unique Aussie Blokes’ icons, the meat pie and the bum crack to create the ‘Arse Pie.’

With the slogan ‘Give it a crack!’, the question is how many pies will they sell with this promotion? With 2000 Arse Pies for sale on Thursday in four different locations around Sydney at $3 each, you can bet the Triple M Sales Team will be hoping that the Triple M Grill Team will create a sell-out as another demonstration of the power of Radio.

Historically, ‘Arse Pie’ has been a Grill Team word for things that aren’t great… but Matty Johns, Gus Worland and Mark Geyer have decided to reclaim it as something awesome, simply by creating a magnificent pie that blokes everywhere can enjoy.

It has already won the praise of Masterchef’s Matt Preston, Karl Stefanovic and The NSW Premier Barry O’Farrell who have all sampled the ‘beautiful’ Arse Pie.

We are unsure whose crack was used as a model for the distinct pastry ‘arse’ outline on top, but with the pie’s combination of chunky ‘rump’ steak, and creamy gravy on the inside, our money’s on Gus Worland.

Darren Nielson from Waminda Bakery in Campbelltown created the prototype – which makes him potentially the ‘Colonel Sanders’ of the Arse Pie.

Apart from Campbelltown, Arse Pies will be available at Mascot Gourmet Bakehouse, Garlo’s Pies Parramatta and the Cronulla Pie Shop.

The Triple M Rock Patrol will be at each location and bakery staff will be wearing official ‘Arse Pie’ T-Shirts.   The Grill Team boys will be crossing to the action live from their Sydney studio urging their listeners to “Get into the Arse Pie – go on, give it a crack!”
