Hinch Squiggle: Variety Club International Logo?

3AW drive presenter, Derryn Hinch, is thrilled after learning a Variety Club logo – which he designed back in the ’80s – has been shortlisted to become the organisation’s brand around the world!

His top hat and heart concept – drawn originally on a beer coaster during a lunch – has since been adopted by Variety clubs across Australia.

Over the past two years, every Variety club in the world has played a role in trying to find a single, unifying logo. Of 50 different symbols gathered, Hinch’s design has been shortlisted as one of three finalists.

The radio veteran has told The Herald Sun’s The Eye that he is rapt.

“Who would have thought that a doodle on the back of a beer coaster from all those years ago would wind up as a worldwide symbol for Variety?

“I had no idea they’d even been working on the logo search until the letter arrived, telling me that my original design had been chosen.”
