Hit 97.9 is still far and away the No 1 station in the latest Xtra Insights survey of Western Australia’s Goldfields region but there were still positives for the ABC, triple j and 981 Triple M. This is the first survey of Kalgoorlie in three years, with the July Esperance Xtra Insights yielding fairly similar results.
Hit WA’s breakfast team of Alan Aldworth and Carly Portch have a 42.5 audience share, which does represent a 4.9 drop but still ahead of the local breakfast show of Abbey Cullen (pictured emceeing a Red Edge Event for the recent RUOK Day) on Triple M Goldfields (20.0) and ABC WA‘s Ivo da Silva (14.1, up 3.8).
SCA Head of Regional Content, Blair Woodcock, said:
“The power of radio and SCA’s dominance is golden in this market, with SCA reaching over 76% of the population. This proves our strong connection to the local community, which is testament to the hard work that both the HIT and Triple M teams put in every day.
On the HIT network, Allan & Carly (with Robbie Von filling in) have produced the #1 Breakfast show, with Carrie & Tommy delivering the #1 result in Drive.
“A special shoutout to Triple M Goldfields 981 Breakfast host Abbey Cullen, who is back in her hometown, and has delivered a cume lift and is the #1 listened to most Breakfast show for M40+ in her very first survey!”
triple j, while down overall 0.9 to 12.6, was up in every day part except drive and particularly grew, surprisingly, in listeners 65+. All ABC stations were up in that demographic, ABC Goldfields up more than 10 points. Hit was the listening choice for 10-54s, Triple M for 55-64 and the ABC for 65+.
Cume audiences grew or remained steady for most, with the ABC and Triple M seeing the biggest increases in listening. Every station saw increased listening in Breakfast.
